# How can I recover a deleted clip?

If you removed a clip from a video by mistake, you can bring it back — removed clips aren't gone, they're just taken out of the timeline.

<Note>
  Looking to restore a whole **video** instead of a single clip? Deleted videos go to the Trash for 30 days. See [How can I recover a deleted video?](/docs/help/account/recover-deleted-video).
</Note>

### Undo a clip you just removed

When you remove a clip, a **Clip removed** toast appears at the bottom of the editor with an **Undo** button. Click **Undo** to put the clip straight back into the timeline.

### Restore a clip later

If you've already moved on or reloaded the editor, you can still recover a removed clip:

1. Open the video in the editor

2. Click the **Add clip** button at the bottom of the timeline

3. Choose **Restore removed clip** from the dropdown (this option only appears when the video has at least one removed clip)

4. Preview the removed clips in the grid and click the one you want to restore back into the timeline

For more on working with clips, see [How to use clips](/docs/help/recording/use-clips).
