# How to change the thumbnail of your Tella video

> Set a custom thumbnail for your Tella video using a video frame or an uploaded image.

You can change the thumbnail of your Tella video by picking a frame from the video or uploading your own image.

<iframe src="https://www.tella.tv/video/vid_cmk7ipkbl006r04jx4gc22wdl/embed?b=0&title=0&a=1&loop=0&t=0&muted=0&wt=0" width="100%" style={{ aspectRatio: "16/9", border: "none", borderRadius: "8px" }} allow="autoplay; fullscreen" />

## Set a thumbnail from a video frame

1. Open your video in the editor.

2. Click **Share** in the top right, then select **Viewer Settings**.

3. In the **Thumbnail** section, choose **Video frame**.

4. Enter the **Frame start time** in seconds. Use the increment and decrement buttons to adjust the value. This timestamp controls:

   * The static thumbnail shown in your library, the view page, and the embedded player.
   * The starting point of the animated preview that loops on hover.

<Note>
  If your video is too short or the start time is too close to the end, Tella will show a warning. The animated preview requires enough remaining video from the selected timestamp.
</Note>

## Upload a custom thumbnail

1. Open your video in the editor.

2. Click **Share** in the top right, then select **Viewer Settings**.

3. In the **Thumbnail** section, choose **Upload**.

4. Upload a PNG, JPG, or WebP image (minimum 1080×1080, maximum 4032×4032 pixels).

The uploaded image replaces the video frame thumbnail across your library, view page, embedded player, and email shares. Tella uses it for static email previews and as the poster for video email embeds; animated email previews still use a GIF from your video.
