Turn on Shrink camera during zooms in Effect → Zooms → Advanced zoom settings to make the camera bubble smaller while the screen is zoomed in, so the detail you are showing stays clear.
Turn on camera shrinking
- Open a video that contains both a screen recording and a camera bubble.
- Click Effect in the editor sidebar, or press
E.
- Under Zooms, expand Advanced zoom settings.
- Turn on Shrink camera during zooms.
The camera bubble automatically becomes smaller while a screen zoom is active, then returns to its layout size when the zoom ends. Its size change follows the zoom’s Intro and Outro: Smooth animates it, while Hard cut changes it immediately. Set these separately by selecting the zoom card and expanding Advanced. See Make a zoom smooth or a hard cut.
For smooth transitions, if you cut out footage during the zoom’s entrance or exit, the camera’s size transition continues smoothly across the cut instead of jumping. Your recording and layout stay unchanged.
New Mac and Windows app recordings made with the Animated cursor start with this setting on, unless you turned it off in an earlier video.
This setting has no visible effect on clips without a camera bubble.
Change the setting on one clip
Camera shrinking uses the video-wide setting by default. Adjust this clip only appears when your video has more than one clip. To change it for only the current clip:
- Open Effect on that clip.
- Under Zooms, expand Advanced zoom settings.
- Turn on Adjust this clip only.
- Turn Shrink camera during zooms on or off.
Turn off Adjust this clip only to make the clip use the video-wide setting again.
Keep the camera at the same size
Turn off Shrink camera during zooms when the speaker should remain equally prominent throughout the video. You can also use Layouts to change the camera’s normal size and position. Last modified on October 9, 2026
