Credits are part of the Tella Agent public beta. We’d love your feedback: email support@tella.com.
Credits are what the Tella Agent spends when it edits your video: every message uses some credits, and the workspace balance is shared by everyone who uses the agent.

Where do I see my credit balance?

Open the Tella Agent in the editor and click the credits button next to the message box. The Credits window shows your Workspace balance. When the balance runs out, that button becomes Add credits. Workspace owners on a paid plan also see their credits in the AI credits card at the top of Settings → Plans & Billing, above the plans. The card shows your Workspace balance, with a bar against the credits your plan includes each month. If top-ups take your balance above the monthly allowance, the bar stays full. The AI credits card only appears once your workspace has an active paid subscription. It’s hidden during a free trial and when a subscription is past due or cancelled.

How many credits are included with my plan?

Paid plans include a monthly allowance of credits for each seat: The allowance is pooled across the workspace, so anyone in the workspace can use it. For example, a Premium workspace with 3 seats gets 18,000 credits each month. Included credits reset each month and don’t roll over: credits left at the end of the month expire, and your workspace gets a fresh allowance. This applies to monthly and yearly plans alike: a yearly subscription still gets its allowance one month at a time. Free trials include 3,000 credits, so you can try the agent before you subscribe. Trial credits expire when the 7-day trial ends, and your plan’s monthly allowance starts when you subscribe.

How many credits does a message use?

It depends on how much work the agent does and which model it uses. A quick change like “cut the first five seconds” uses few credits; a big edit across a long video, a larger model or a higher thinking level uses more. Your balance updates after each reply.

Does Auto Capture use credits?

Yes. Auto Capture spends the same workspace balance as the Tella Agent: each take uses credits for the AI that explores and scripts the page and for the machines that record it, charged when the take ends. That includes takes that stop to ask a question, fail or are cancelled partway, for the work done until then. A take can’t start when the balance is too low.

Can I use my ChatGPT or Claude plan instead of credits?

Partly. You can run the agent’s OpenAI models on your ChatGPT plan, and its Claude models on your Claude Pro or Max plan. Connect them in Settings → Connections → AI subscriptions. With a plan connected, that provider’s models don’t use credits for the model itself, so messages cost far fewer credits. Each message still uses a small amount of credits for the agent’s helper steps and its editing workspace. That means you still need a paid Tella plan and a workspace balance above zero to send messages, even with a plan connected. If the balance runs out, a workspace owner can add a top-up, or you can wait for your monthly allowance to reset. If a connection shows Needs reconnecting, that provider’s models use credits as usual until you reconnect it. For step-by-step instructions, see Use your ChatGPT or Claude plan with the Tella Agent.

Buy more credits

Workspace owners can top up anytime with a one-time purchase:
  1. Click the credits button next to the agent’s message box, or go to the AI credits card in Settings → Plans & Billing.
  2. Choose a top-up under Top-up.
  3. Click Go to checkout and pay in Stripe Checkout.
The credits are added to your workspace balance as soon as payment completes.

Do purchased credits expire?

No. Purchased credits never expire; only the monthly included credits do. Your monthly allowance is always used first, so purchased credits are only spent once the month’s included credits run out. Credits are non-refundable, including purchased top-ups. See the refund policy.

Who can buy credits?

Only workspace owners. Members who open the Credits window see Ask a workspace owner to add more credits.

What happens when we run out of credits?

The agent stops accepting messages, the message box turns yellow and says You’re out of credits. Add more to keep using the agent., and the credits button becomes Add credits. Nothing else in Tella is affected: you can keep editing, exporting and sharing as usual. Messages work again as soon as a workspace owner tops up or your monthly allowance resets.
