You can embed Tella videos directly in Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides using the Tella add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace. This is useful when you want to add extra context to a document you are sharing, or keep video updates and explanations inline with your work.
Install the Tella add-on
You can install the add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace here, or from inside Google Docs.- Open Google Docs.
- Go to Extensions → Add-ons → Get add-ons.
- Search for Tella.
- Click to install the add-on.
- Grant access so Tella can embed videos in your Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Embed a Tella video as a smart chip
- Copy the link to the Tella video you want to embed.
- Paste the link into your Google doc, sheet, or slide.
- Press tab to convert the pasted link into an embedded smart chip.
Smart chips only work with
tella.tv and tella.video links. If your
workspace uses a custom domain, links copied on that domain won’t convert.
Swap the domain for www.tella.tv and keep the rest of the link the same
(for example, https://videos.yourcompany.com/video/my-video becomes
https://www.tella.tv/video/my-video), then paste that link and press
tab.Where this works
This embedding flow works in:- Google Docs
- Google Sheets
- Google Slides
