Since recording this video, Tella also added options to sort your videos alphabetically, and sort by date added and last modified in ascending/descending order.
Tella now offers two new features to help you organize your videos and playlists more effectively. You can now reorder your playlists in the sidebar and sort or reorder videos within a playlist. This guide will walk you through how to use these new organizational tools.
Reordering playlists in the sidebar
If you find that frequently used playlists are buried at the bottom of your sidebar, you can now easily reorder them to prioritize visibility.- Click and drag: Locate the playlist you want to move in the sidebar.
- Move: Click and hold the playlist, then drag it to your desired position in the sidebar (e.g., to the top if you use it often).
- Release: Release the mouse button to drop the playlist in its new location.
Organizing videos within a playlist
Within any given playlist, you now have more control over how your videos are displayed and accessed.- Access sorting options: When viewing a playlist, look for the sorting option near the top.
- Default sorting: By default, videos are sorted by ‘Last Updated’.
-
Change sorting: Click the sorting option to reveal a dropdown menu with several choices:
-
Date Added: Sorts videos based on when they were added to the playlist.
- You can sort this by older first, or newer first
-
Date Modified: Sorts videos based on the last day they were modified
- You can sort this by older first, or newer first
-
Name: Sorts videos alphabetically by their title.
- You can sort this by A-Z or Z-A
- Custom: This option allows you to create a unique, manual order for your videos.
-
Date Added: Sorts videos based on when they were added to the playlist.
Using custom sorting
Custom sorting is particularly useful for public playlists where you want to guide your audience’s viewing experience.- Enable custom sort: Select ‘Custom’ from the sorting options.
- Drag and drop videos: Click any video within the playlist and drag it to the position where you want it to appear.
- Save order: Once you’re satisfied with the arrangement, the order is automatically saved.
Choosing the default view for a public playlist
You can decide whether viewers see your public playlist as a grid of thumbnails or a compact list. This sets the layout the playlist opens with for everyone.- Open the share modal: On the playlist you want to change, open Share and go to the Publish tab.
- Set the default view: Under Default view, use the toggle to choose Grid or List.
- It saves automatically: Your choice is saved right away and becomes the default layout for every visitor.
The Default view option only appears once the playlist is published, and requires publish rights on the playlist.
