If your video is taking a long time to load, not opening, or showing a preview error in the editor, follow the steps below.

If Tella cannot show the video preview

The new editor uses your computer’s graphics processor to render the video preview. If the preview cannot start or stops working, Tella replaces it with an explanation and recovery options.
  1. Follow the guidance for the error you see:
    • If Safari is unsupported, update it through System Settings → General → Software Update, or open the video in the latest Chrome.
    • If another browser is unsupported, update it to the latest version, or open the video in the latest Chrome.
    • If hardware acceleration is unavailable, search your browser settings for hardware acceleration or graphics acceleration, turn it on, and relaunch your browser.
    • If acceleration is already on, update your browser and graphics drivers, then restart your computer.
    • If you are using a virtual machine or remote desktop session, open the editor directly on your computer instead.
    • If the graphics connection stopped, close other tabs or apps before trying again.
    • If part of your video uses an unsupported format, open the video in Chrome or use the classic editor.
  2. Click Try again to reload the editor.
  3. If Tella says hardware acceleration is unavailable and the problem continues, click Contact support.
  4. Click Use classic editor if the option is available and the preview still does not work.
Your original video and edits are safe when the preview fails. You can still watch the video from its share page.

If the editor is slow or will not open

Try enabling low-res mode (also called Edit faster). Low-res mode is on by default for new videos, so this is mostly relevant if you previously turned it off.

How to enable low-res mode

  1. Open your video in the editor.
  2. In the top toolbar, click the Low-res button (the flame icon) to toggle it on.
This uses a lower-resolution preview while you edit, which speeds up loading and makes the editor more responsive, especially for longer videos or on slower computers.

When to use low-res mode

  • Your video takes a long time to load
  • The editor feels sluggish or unresponsive
  • You’re working on a longer video
  • Your computer has limited RAM or processing power

Does this affect my final video quality?

No. Low-res mode only affects the preview while you’re editing. When you export or share your video, it will be rendered at full quality.
