Auto Layouts
This feature is currently in beta. If you have questions or run into an issue, please contact support.
How to generate Auto Layouts
Navigate to the edit page, layout section of a video with the following parameters:
Landscape orientation (16:9)
Includes a camera recording
Choose your editing style (auto is selected by default)
Each style changes the manner and visual appearance of your video
Hover over styles to view descriptions
We recommend trying the “auto” option the first time you attempt to generate layouts
Click "Generate layouts"
Layouts will start to generate and you'll see them added to your video.
Wait for the generation to complete
Review your results - you can give a thumbs up/thumbs down to rate the results
After generation
Once the layout is finished being created and applied to your video, you’ll be able to:
Change the editing style and regenerate for a different approach
Regenerate with the same style for alternative results
Delete specific layouts, while keeping others if desired
Adjust timing of individual layouts (start and end points)
Use undo/redo buttons—you're never locked into generated layouts
Windows: CTRL + Z (undo), CTRL + Y (reapply)
macOS: CMD + Z (undo), CMD + Y (reapply)
Rate the results using thumbs up/down buttons
Understanding editing styles
Editing styles determine how Auto Layouts approaches your video. Each style is optimized for different types of content (e.g., product demos, tutorials, presentations). Hover over each style option to see a description of its approach.
Best practices
Start with a clean slate: Auto Layouts works best with raw, unedited recordings
Crop first: If you need to crop your screen, do so before running Auto Layouts
One clip at a time: Generate layouts for each clip individually–layouts will not generate for an entire video’s worth of clips in one attempt
What to expect
Variability: Each generation may produce slightly different results—this is normal and allows you to find the perfect layout
Intro sequences: Auto Layouts may apply “intro-style” layouts to each clip, which you can adjust as needed
Processing time: Longer videos require more processing time
General limitations
Maximum video length: 20 minutes
Make all “crop” effect changes before running the new Auto Layout function
Cropping after generating layouts will affect all layouts in the video, and could lead to unexpected results
After cropping is complete, there is no method to update the layouts
Beta limitations
Only landscape, camera + screen recordings supported (16:9 aspect ratio)
Camera-only and screen-only videos are not supported
Portrait and square canvas sizes are coming in a future update
