Adjust your camera frame
How to use the camera framing feature in Tella
Tella’s Camera Framing feature allows you to adjust the positioning of your camera feed within certain layouts, ensuring that you’re centered or framed exactly how you want. This feature is particularly useful when you’re slightly off-center in your recording, or if the default camera placement in a layout doesn’t perfectly fit your video’s needs. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to use the Camera Framing tool and explain how it can improve the look of your videos.
What is camera framing?
When recording video content, you may find that you’re not perfectly centered in the frame, or that your camera placement needs adjustment depending on the layout you choose. The Camera Framing feature in Tella solves this by allowing you to reposition yourself within the shot without needing to re-record the video.
With this tool, you can manually adjust how your camera feed appears in the layout by shifting the frame so that you’re in the desired position. This simple adjustment can make your video appear more polished and professional.
When should I use camera framing?
The Camera Framing tool is useful in a variety of scenarios, such as:
• If you are off-center in your original recording.
• If the layout you’ve chosen places your camera in a position that doesn’t look right for your content.
• If you want to change the focus within your camera frame without re-recording.
Camera Framing allows you to correct these issues quickly by adjusting how your camera appears, so you can focus more on delivering your message.
How to adjust your camera frame in Tella
To adjust the framing of your camera in Tella, follow these steps:
1. Open the Layouts Panel:
Begin by opening the video you want to edit. In the sidebar, click on the Layouts button to access layout options.
2. Select the Adjust Camera Framing Option:
At the bottom of the Layouts panel, you’ll find the option labeled Adjust Camera Framing. Click on it to open the camera framing adjustment settings.
3. Preview the Full Camera Frame:
After clicking the Adjust Camera Framing option, you’ll see a preview of the entire frame captured by your webcam. This allows you to see the full range of movement available for adjusting your position within the shot.
4. Reposition the Camera Feed:
You can now manually adjust your camera feed by dragging the frame to set a new center point. Move the camera view horizontally or vertically depending on how you want to adjust your position within the shot.
As you make adjustments, you’ll see the changes reflected in real-time in the canvas preview, helping you fine-tune your framing until you’re satisfied.
For example, if you were slightly off to the side when you recorded your video, you can drag the camera frame to recenter yourself within the layout. This ensures that your appearance in the video is polished and professional, even if the original shot wasn’t perfect.
5. Finalize the Adjustments:
Once you’ve positioned the camera feed to your liking, close the framing tool. The new camera position will now be reflected in your video layout, creating a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing composition.
Best practices for camera framing
While the Camera Framing feature is easy to use, keeping a few best practices in mind will help you achieve the best results:
Aim for Centering: In most cases, it’s best to position yourself close to the center of the frame. This ensures that your viewers’ attention is focused on you, making your presentation more engaging.
Consider the Layout: Different layouts place varying emphasis on the camera or screen. If your camera feed is small or off to the side in the layout, slight framing adjustments can still make a big difference.
Reframe for Focus: Use the framing tool to direct attention where it’s most needed. For example, if your layout is focused primarily on a screen recording, you can frame your camera feed to be more subtle or move yourself out of the center if the content requires it.
